The BabyDam team loves a stat! So we have been waiting in anticipation for the Office for National Statistics to release their birth data for England and Wales and we just had to share them with you!
Did you know?
- 2022 was the lowest birth year in 20 years
- There were over 605,000 births last year
- October had the highest number of births
- February had the lowest number of births
- More babies were born outside of marriage or civil partnership
- The majority of mums were aged between 30 to 34 years old
- Highest number of babies were born in the London region
- According to other data from the Office for National Statistics, 27 September is the most popular day to be born and Boxing Day is the least common day to be born!

In 2022 the highest births registered were in India (23 million), followed by China (10 million), Nigeria (8 million), Pakistan (6.4 million) and Indonesia (4.5). DR Congo, Ethiopia, USA, Bangladesh and Brazil complete the top 10.
