The moment your baby is born your life completely changes. Your previous life with your new life divide, creating a new existence which will seem alien and different to start with. Whilst becoming a mum is one of the most wonderful gifts in the world, you’ll soon become familiar with things you now only know of because you’re a mum. Hot drinks? What hot drink? Peeing in peace? What’s that? You catch the drift.
So, you know you’re a mum when….
You can’t remember what a warm cup of tea is. The tea is made, the baby starts crying, your child needs attention, it’s only when the baby is in bed that night that you stumble upon the 5 cups of half drunk tea around the house. Sound familiar?
Even when you feel like the world is against you, your baby won’t stop screaming and you realise it’s 3pm and you still haven’t opened the curtains, everything will be OK. It always is.
You slowly start to realise that not only have you become a mum, YOU ARE YOUR MUM.
Your food? Yeah, you have to share that too. Try having a packet of crisps without a little hand reaching into it.
The contents of your designer handbag has been replaced by 4 spare pairs of pants, nappies, snacks and an iPad with reruns of paw patrol.
You can’t wait for a night away from your child, but as soon as you’re away you can’t stop thinking about them and ringing up on the baby sitter to check they’re okay. You end up going home early because you miss them so much <3
Pre baby? You can’t even remember whether you ate this morning let alone what your life used to be like before your baby came along.
You genuinely get excited when an episode of Peppa Pig or Paw Patrol comes on that you haven’t seen before.
Eating your tea? Sleeping? Showering? You’re now last in the queue for everything, you always attend to your children before even thinking about yourself.
Your partner is now otherwise known as Daddy, you can’t remember the last time you called them by their ‘real’ name.
The second takeaway that week is never as appealing when you’re trying to speed eat it between it getting cold and your baby screaming, You secretly wish you could enjoy your takeaway/food like the old days.
Crying over everything. Spilt milk? Baby giggled? Yes, you cry at everything and it’s totally OK.
You never ever forget how amazing you are to house a baby for 9 months and bring it into the world. You couldn’t imagine having your life any other way.
